Andrew Millington has been Director of Music at Exeter Cathedral since September 1999. He studied the organ at Worcester Cathedral before gaining an Organ Scholarship to Downing College, Cambridge. In 1975 he became Assistant Organist at Gloucester Cathedral where he was closely involved with The Three Choirs Festival.

In 1983 he became Organist and Master of the Choristers at Guildford Cathedral. His work with the Guildford choir over a period of 16 years included foreign tours, numerous recordings and an appearance at the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts.

He has worked with several leading orchestras and he is well known as a recitalist. He is an examiner for The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and a recent past President of the Cathedral Organists' Association. His solo recordings include a CD on the recently restored organ of Exeter Cathedral. It is entitled "Festivals, Times and Seasons" and features music for the church’s year by Bach, Buxtehude, Howells, Dupré and Messiaen (Herald Label).

Since his arrival at Exeter, he has directed the Cathedral Choir on many important occasions including highly successful tours of Russia and France. In addition he has conducted performances in the Cathedral with the Exeter Bach Society, Exeter Philharmonic Choir, English Chamber Orchestra and the University Cantors. Recently, he has been awarded honorary diplomas by the Guild of Church Musicians and the Royal School of Church Music.

In November 2003 he was appointed Director of Music of Exeter Philharmonic Choir.
